Rev. Michael Overton
Michael joined the staff at First in 2005 after serving as Senior Pastor in Arkansas for eleven years. He is a native of Illinois and is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. His joys are his wife, Denise, and two daughters, Madison and Rachel.
Rev. Tim Burgher
Tim has served churches full-time in Kentucky, Illinois and Missouri since 1977. He joined the ministry of First Baptist Church, Springfield, MO in February 2017. He is also an adjunct professor of Church Music at Southwest Baptist University. He has joyfully been a member of the Missouri Music Men since 1983, participating in concerts in Missouri and mission trips in and out of the USA.
Tim married Marcia (Johnson) Burgher in June 1977. They are the proud parents of four adult children and eight grandchildren. One of greatest joys of Tim is to see and know that each of his children are leading worship in the churches where they are attending.
Tim completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Church Music and Music Theory at Palm Beach Atlantic University in 1975 and a Masters in Church Music with an emphasis in conducting at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1978. Tim’s passion is to see God’s people worship the risen Christ and to equip them to encourage and equip others to worship God.
Joel started as the Interim Student Pastor in August 2020.
He graduated from Southwest Baptist University with a degree in Christian Ministry and a minor in Psychology. He has been in youth ministry for 16 years.
He has been married to Laura for 14 years and they have 4 kids: Kinsley 9, Micah 7, Isaiah 4, & Noah 3.
Joel also teaches history to 7-12th grade students at Truth Academy.
He enjoys watching sports, especially the Chiefs, Royals, Cardinals & the Kansas State Wildcats.
